We are seeking an Equipment Operator - Light to support renewable energy construction and site operations at a large-scale solar facility in Texas. The successful candidate will safely operate light-duty construction and site-support equipment, including utility vehicles, telehandlers, skid steers, forklifts, light trucks, and other machinery appropriate to their training and authorization. Duties may include transporting materials and tools, loading and unloading deliveries, moving equipment around the site, assisting with access-road and laydown-area maintenance, supporting installation crews, managing debris and housekeeping, and completing routine pre-use inspections.
The operator will follow site-specific procedures, traffic plans, manufacturer instructions, and all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements. Responsibilities include reporting equipment defects, maintaining accurate daily logs, using required personal protective equipment, observing exclusion zones, communicating clearly with ground personnel and spotters, and stopping work when unsafe conditions arise. The role may also involve assisting with general labor tasks, material handling, weather-related preparation, and other operational activities as assigned. Consistent attendance, dependable teamwork, and a professional approach are essential in a changing outdoor work environment.
Applicants should have prior experience operating light construction, agricultural, industrial, or utility equipment, preferably on solar, civil, or infrastructure projects. A valid driver's license and the ability to meet site access requirements are expected; recognized equipment certifications, such as forklift, telehandler, or skid steer qualifications, are strongly preferred. Candidates must be able to read basic instructions, complete inspection documentation, and communicate effectively in English. The position requires working outdoors in heat, wind, dust, and varying weather conditions, with the ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift materials safely. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or changing shifts may be required to meet project schedules.
